DCH Getting New Ambulance Service Ready

Daviess Community Hospital is getting its new ambulance service ready to take over servicing the county.

The Daviess County Commissioners yesterday heard from officials who reported that a job fair last week saw 20 candidates seeking ambulance staff positions. The Washington Times Herald quoted Keith Miller saying the majority of the candidates have been selected from those 20 for a preliminary offer of employment.  Those people will be notified in 10 days.  Another hiring blitz is slated for next month.  Also the newspaper reports the contract wording is continuing to progress.

The county chose the hospital to be the new ambulance service provider after current provider Southwest Medical did not seek another contract.  The hospital could take over the service before the end of the year if they tell county officials they are ready. The Southwest Medical contract goes through to until 2020.
