Some area schools excel in Stem Challenge

33 Southern Indiana High School teams competed in the 6th Annual Southwest Indiana STEM Challenge on Friday April 5th at Oakland City University. These teams of four students competed in group challenges testing their science, math, problem solving, and engineering skills. These challenges have been developed and were administered by local companies including: ATTC Manufacturing, Farbest Foods, Jasper Engines and Transmissions, Kimball Electronics, Kimball International, Nix Companies, RB, Toyota, and collaboration of USI with Manpower. The top three teams in each challenge and the top three teams overall were awarded cash prizes. A cash award was also presented to the team that displays the best teamwork and communication skills.  Winners are as follows:

Overall:

1st: Southridge High School (team 35)

2nd: Heritage Hills High School (team 22)

3rd: Harrison High School (team 18)

Teamwork:Southridge High School (team 35)

2nd: Harrison High School (team 18)

3rd: Evansville North High School (team 8)

Farbest Foods:

1st: New Tech Institute (team 7)

2nd: Evansville North High School (team 8)

Jasper Engines and Transmissions:

1st: Pike Central High School (team 10)

2nd: New Tech Institute (team 7)

3rd: Evansville North High School (team 8)

Kimball Electronics:

1st: North Posey High School (team9)

2nd: Evansville North High School (team 23)

3rd: Southridge High School (team 35)

Kimball International:

1st : Heritage Hills High School (team 22)

2nd: Evansville Bosse High School (team 20)

3rd: Boonville High School (team1)

Nix Companies:

1st: Heritage Hills High School (team 30)

2nd: Evansville North High School (team 32)

3rd: Southern Indiana Career and Technical Center (team 34)
