(NETWORK INDIANA)  The “Green New Deal” will be expensive and Sen. Mike Braun (R-Ind.), says all problems with the environment shouldn’t necessarily be solved by the federal government. Braun spoke in debate over the proposal on the Senate floor Wednesday.

He compared the “Green New Deal” to the Affordable Care Act, which he says was the “unaffordable care act”.

“If you think any of that can be done, whether it’s $50 trillion, $93 trillion, keep in mind…we’re $22 trillion in debt,” said Braun, talking about the plan to stop emissions from oil and gas by 2030. It could be expensive because it will require people to stop using planes and cars that are fueled by gas.

“Does that sound like anything that the federal government could actually solve in a sustainable way when we’re in a pickle like we’re currently in?”

Braun indicated that businesses and perhaps states, would be better equipped to tackle the problem of a polluted environment.

Sen. Todd Young also spoke against the “Green New Deal”, which may be voted on soon by the Senate.
