Shirley Sue Miley, 80, of Petersburg passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at Golden Living Center in Petersburg. She was born June 17, 1938 in Odon, IN to Albert and Tressie (Fish) Weathers. She married Cecil Perry Mile on May 19, 1961.

She graduated from Washington High School in 1956 and was the business manager of the high school newspaper. Her yearbook quote was “Good things come in small packages.” She was a graduate of Lockyear Business College in Evansville. She is a member of the Free Methodist Church in Petersburg and was treasurer for many years. She passed newspapers as a child, worked at McCords in Washington, helped her husband on the family farm, was a 4 H leader, and worked at the Trustee and Assessors offices in the Petersburg courthouse. She also worked at Graham Hydraulics in Washington and then retired from the Press Dispatch after 20 years.

She enjoyed camping, bowling, and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Brenda (Curtis) Jones; son, James (Michelle) Miley; four grandchildren, Stuart Generous, Vanessa Gusman, Elizabeth Green, and Alison Geatches; one great grandchild, Thea Gusman; brother, John Robert Weathers; and sister, Judy Ann Riney.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Perry Miley; infant daughter, Karen Sue; parents, Albert and Tressie Weathers; sisters Vonda Lucille Boyd and Helen Louise Hamm.

Services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, March 8, at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg. Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Thursday, March 7, at the funeral home and Friday morning from 9 AM until service time. Pastor Paul Newton will be officiating and burial will follow at Williams Cemetery in Bowman. Harris Funeral Home is entrusted with care.
