Weather is wacky again

thermometer-low

The rain has ended and the cold has begun again.

The high today will be 24 with wind chills down to zero at times.  Cold and a low of 11 tonight. Tomorrow it’ll be sunny and a high of 33 and then a 60% chance of more precipitation on Sunday in the form or rain and or snow and a high 37.  Next week looks a little more seasonable with highs in the 40’s and lows around 30.

Standing and running water and puddles have frozen so there is black ice and scattered slick spots.  Use caution when driving or walking.  The colder weather a slick spots prompted some school delays today.  North Daviess, Barr Reeve and schools in Martin and Knox Counties were running on 2 hour delays.

The heavy rains caused flooding all across the area.  6th Street in Vincennes had water that was bumper high or more for a time yesterday.  Also the change in the weather prompted thunderstorms.  There was a confirmed tornado in southeast Knox County. A tornado warning was also issued for portions of Pike and Gibson Counties yesterday afternoon.

The Daviess County Sheriff’s Department reports that State Road 358 at the Daviess/Knox County Line  and Old Vincennes Road are closed.

Yesterday authorities did assist a motorist stuck in the water in a vehicle on Daviess County Road 1100 East North of Odon.  The call came in about 12:28-pm of a man in a vehicle with water up to his ankles in the vehicle.  He was informed to stay inside as rescuers used a boat to get him to safety.
