Toyota in Princeton made over $422,000 vehicles in 2018.  That’s up slightly from the year before.  The Highlander, Highlander Hybrid, Sequoia and Sienna are all produced at the Gibson County plant.

Inside Indiana Business reports the auto manufacturer is celebrating that production growth this week.  Toyota also announced that $1.7 million in funding was awarded to local non profits in the Gibson County region last year.  The Princeton plant employs around 5400 people. They are expanding and an additional 500 will be hired before next year.

Overall in North America Toyota’s production is down in the US and Canada and up in Mexico.  US plants production went down by $31,000 vehicles which is a small decrease. Canada’s production dropped by 74,000 units on volume, of just under 500,000 total units.

Torque News is reporting that in Mexico, Toyota’s production increased by about 48,000 units. All due to the increased production of the Toyota Tacoma pickup truck.  Toyota now builds more Tacomas in Mexico than it does in its Texas plant.
