William “Bill” Lee Strange

William “Bill” Lee Strange, age 88, of Washington, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2019. He was a beloved husband, dad, papa and great grandpa.

He was born October 14, 1930 in Washington to Harry Flavian and Sallie (Lee) Strange. He had graduated from Washington Catholic High School in 1949 and Vincennes University. He was a U.S. Air Force Korean War Veteran and had retired as Post Master from the United States Postal Service, April 23, 1987. He enjoyed gardening, golf, IU Basketball, St. Louis Cardinals baseball and family cookouts. He was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, the American Legion and Knights of Columbus.

Bill is survived by one son, Steve (Tim Hutson) Strange of Yorktown; two daughters, Sally (Alan) Christie of Washington and Linda (Scott) Server of Indianapolis; eight grandchildren, Amanda (Matthew) Lemmon, Matt (Ashley) Christie, Vanessa (Brad) Kleinschmidt, Natalie Martin, Emily Martin, Sean Server, Selene Server and Seth Server; great grandchild, Alex Lemmon; brothers and sisters, Cecil Strange, Carl Strange, Barbara Ann (Strange) Kane, Ginger (Strange) Boyd and Bob Strange.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou (Thomas) Strange on June 16, 2018, whom he married April 23, 1960; parents.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday at Ed Lee Mortuary North Chapel, 620 East Viola Ave, Washington, Indiana, with Yvonne Evans officiating. Burial will be at Sugarland Memory Garden. Military graveside rites will be held by the Washington American Legion and VFW. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Ed Lee Mortuary North Chapel.
