The Daviess County Commissioners, Council and Airport Board met together to look over projects at the Daviess County Airport.

A taxiway expansion has been on the table for several years.  Last fall a 1.1 million dollar plan was bid and construction is set to start in a few months.  Lengthening the runway to 5,000 feet is another plan in the works for later this year.  The Washington Times Herald quotes Commissioner Nathan Gabhart saying that will mean re-routing County Road 350 North or closing the road.  He said a traffic counts will be conducted to measure the effect closing it will have in the area.  However no houses or businesses are on that section of road he said and closing it could save a million dollars on the lengthening plan.

The joint meeting was to give county officials an overview of the funding required to do the projects. Airport Manager Eric Seber told the Times-Herald the projects were well received by the commissioners and council.
