River flooding to last through the weekend

River flooding will continue for the next few days along area rivers.

          According to the National Weather Service’s most current stats…the White was cresting at Elliston and approaching crest at Newberry.  A secondary crest is expected upstream at Spencer on Friday.   The White at Edwardsport was observed at 16.1 feet last night which is 1.1 feet above flood stage.  It is likely to rise to 17.4 by tonight and start to fall and be below flood stage by Monday.  At Petersburg the White is expected to rise to nearly 18 feet or two feet above flood stage by Monday and then start to fall.

          The East Fork White has crested at Seymour and will crest at Rivervale on Saturday and move downstream.   The East Fork at Shoals is expected to peak at 13.7 feet Sunday morning.   Flood stage at Shoals is 20 feet.

          The Wabash at Vincennes was at 14 feet last night.  Flood stage is 16 feet. The Wabash will rise to just under 17 feet by next Tuesday and start to fall.
