And with the Holiday Season, scammers are attempting to take advantage of unsuspecting Hoosiers. Indiana’s Attorney General, Curtis Hill has issued a warning about scammers sending fraudulent emails that appear to come from Apple representatives. The scam is an attempt to get unsuspecting victims to provide personal information like credit card numbers. The scammers may also try to install malware on the victim’s computer, tablet, or phone.
An employee of the Attorney General’s office received an e-mail from scammers last week. In the latest scam, the sender uses the identity of “Apple ID” and the e-mail includes the Apple logo.
Anyone receiving suspicious emails purporting to come from Apple may forward them to the company at reportphishing@apple.com.
