The Daviess County Commissioners held their final meeting of 2018 Tuesday Morning.   County Highway Superintendent Phil Cornelius reported that, with the exception of a few minor details, Phase III of the Odon-Cannelburg Road Project and the 15th Street Bridge Project in Washington are substantially complete.   Commissioners President Nathan Gabhart asked about the Montgomery bridge.  Cornelius said the bridge currently has a 10-ton load limit, but the old wooden decking has some soft spots and suggested making contact with CSX to begin potential negotiations to rehabilitate the bridge.

The Commissioners also awarded a Farm Lease.    The County will receive approximately $280 per acre to farm the county owned ground.  The Summers family, who currently holds the 3-year lease was the sole bidder.     The Commissioners also received bids for the Sheriff’s radio project and reviewed qualifications for applicants for architect of the Courthouse upgrade.  Both items were taken under advisement for future examination.

In other business the Commissioners renewed the Purdue Extension contract, along with a software maintance contract with CSI for the Recorders office.

During the Annex portion of the meeting, the Commissioners heard from owners representative Michael Schapker and Architect Jonathan LaMar.   The building is still on line for a June move date for county offices.
