Five of 12 structure fires in Vincennes responded to last month were determined to be arson.

That’s according to Vincennes Fire Chief Sonny Pinkstaff who says in all, there’s been 42 structure fires so far in 2018 and 15 were set on purpose.  Pinkstaff  says arrests have been made in half of those investigations as his department works with the Vincennes Police Department.

The latest fire was November 28th at 625 Cullop Street.  A garage was deliberately set on fire causing $15,000 in damage.

Anyone with any information on any of the fires is urged to contact the Indiana State Arson Tip Line.  That phone number is 1-800-382-4628.   All tips can stay anonymous and theirs is a $5000 reward for information leading to an arrest.

The Vincennes City Council did transfer $200,000 to pay for firefighters overtime work in fighting the increased number of  fires in the city.
