James R. Holland, 84, of Washington, passed away at 10:40 am Monday, November 19, 2018 at The Villages of Oak Ridge.
He was born August 26, 1934 in Daviess County, Indiana to Mally and Myrtle (Simmons) Holland.
Jim career began in 1955 with Grahm’s Farm Feed mill and ended as a Flock Supervisor of Perdue Inc. in 1998 and received and where he received the Bob Jones Memorial Award in 1997 as Supervisor of the Year. His memberships included the Cornettsville United Methodist Church, and was a past Worshipful Master of the Plainville Masonic Lodge and received his 50-year member pin from the Glendale Masonic Lodge # 461 in 2017. After retiring he enjoyed camping at Prides Creek, hunting, gardening, and loved the outdoors.
Surviving are his wife, Rhea (Goodwin) Holland, whom he married on January 1, 1954; his sons, Steve Holland and his wife Denise of Shelbyville, Mike Holland and his wife Ramona of Brazil, and Hubie Holland and his wife, Dawn of Washington; a brother, Donald Holland and his wife Pat of Washington; his grandchildren, Jordan Holland, Joel Holland, Lori Kahl and her husband David, Mitch Holland and his wife Megan, Caleb Holland and his wife Brooke, Emily Holland and Michelle Holland, along with 10 great grandchildren plus one more on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William and John Holland; a sister, Thelma Phillips; a great grandson, Hunter Harrison; and a daughter in law, Teresa.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Goodwin Sievers Funeral Home, 2020 State Street, Washington IN, with Pastor Gwen Pew officiating. Burial will follow in the Sugarland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 3-7 pm Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cornettsville United Methodist Church.
