(WAMW News-Washington)  On the first day of the school year that icy roads led to the cancellation of school, Washington Assistant Principal Kevin Frank gave the School Board a review of “E-Learning Days”.   E-Learning Days are days where students use the internet to make up days cancelled by weather or other reasons.  Frank said it is important that the E-Learning make-up be congruent with the students’ current classroom work and not just some canned program developed in August.    Board member Randy Bouchie asked how this would affect students without home computer or Wi-Fi access.   Frank said that a survey seeking input from Washington’s parents has been sent out.  One question is specific in asking “Do you support E-Learning Days?”   Frank also reported the in-school make up day for Thursday’s cancelled classes will be January 4.

The Board also heard a report from Transportation Director Corey Bouchie.  The Washington System is incorporating the Versa Trans computer program to increase the efficiency of the bus routes.  Transportation will be an important factor in the Elementary Feasibilty Study that’s being planned.

The Board also viewed a video showing the students of the school system wearing t-shirts incorporating the new Washington logo.  The 2600 shirts were provided by the End Zone and several corporate sponsors.  Each student in the system received a free shirt.

The Board also voted to appoint Clay Havill as the corporation attorney.
