Indiana Farm Bureau released its annual Thanksgiving market basket survey results. Volunteer shoppers across the state recorded prices for traditional Thanksgiving meal items. Below are highlights of the results :
· According to Indiana Farm Bureau’s survey, Hoosier shoppers should expect slightly more affordable grocery store prices on traditional Thanksgiving food items this year.
· Budget-conscious shoppers should be able to feed everyone for under $5 per person.
· Specifically, the average cost for a Thanksgiving dinner for 10 this year, including 12 traditional food items, is $47.22 or $4.72 per person
· This year’s meal is approximately 7% cheaper than in 2017.
· This year, a 16-pound turkey should cost approximately $21.50 ($1.34 per pound), which is about 17 percent cheaper than last year at $26 ($1.62 per pound).
