Alorica shutting down

(AP) — A customer service provider says it’s shutting down a call center in western Indiana that currently employs about 300 people.

The Tribune-Star reports Erica McCarthy, a communications manager in Alorica ‘s Irvine, California, corporate headquarters, confirmed the planned closure of the Terre Haute site on Monday.

The company opened the center in in 2008 to provide services such as customer service and support, logistics and fulfillment for Fortune 500 companies. By the end of its first year of operations, 750 employees worked at the site. McCarthy says it appears the closure will be completed by year’s end.

McCarthy says in an email it’s “always a hard decision to say goodbye to some of our amazing team members who have worked with us over the years.”
