The projected Economic Development Income Tax revenue in 2019 is expected to be $50,000 more than 2018.

That was the word from Daviess County Economic Development Corporation Director Ron Arnold at yesterday’s Daviess County Council meeting.

The Washington Times Herald  reports Arnold said that the tax has raised about $19 million in total since it’s inception and he says that projects that could not have been done without that tax include Eagle Railcar, Olon, M&C Tech, McCallister’s and some others.  He said that amounts to up to 1700 new jobs in Daviess County.

The paper quotes Arnold saying the EDIT tax has worked and worked very well.

In council action, a committee was formed to work on trying to  pay down the county county’s economic development bonds.   The committee is made up of Washington Mayor Joe Wellman, County Commissioner Michael Taylor, The DCEDC Board Chair and council members Mike Sprinkle, and Pat Dant.
