Lela C. Summers, 91, of Washington, passed away at 6:00 am Monday, October 15, 2018 at Emerald Place.
She was born July 12, 1927 in Terre Haute to George and Anna (Bramble) Riester.
Lela retired as an agent with CSX and started with the B&O Railroad after world War II and was a member of the Church on the Way and the VFW Auxiliary. She loved to paint and collect gems and minerals.
Surviving are her children, Philip Summers and his wife, Luana of Petersburg, John Summers and his wife Lisa of Washington, and Barbara Silversmith and her husband Mark of Farmington, New Mexico; her grandchildren, Brandon, Tina, Josh, Jacob, Reegan, Dustin, Melissa, Myles, Mark, Tiffany, and Tyler ; along with several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Hugh Summers, a World War II veteran, in 2006; two sons, David and Mike Summers; and her brother and sisters, Preston Riester, Bea Larson, and Mary Alice Klemaszewski.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 pm Friday, October 19, 2018 at Goodwin Sievers Funeral Home with Jeff Jones officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until the service on Friday. Burial will be at a later date. Goodwin Sievers Funeral home is honored to assist the family with arrangements.
