Catherine E. Chambers, 66, of Washington passed away October 8, 2018 at Daviess Community Hospital. Born September 2, 1952 IN Washington, Indiana, she was the Daughter of the Late Ralph and Eleanor (Dant) Southerland. Catherine was a 1970 graduate of Washington Catholic High School and went on to earn a Masters of Education Degree from Indiana State University 1974. She was of Catholic Faith. Catherine married Grant Chambers on July 15, 1989. Inspired to become a teacher by her mother and her grandmother Gertrude Dant, Cathy was a dedicated and accomplished teacher having taught special education and fourth grade at Griffith elementary from 1974 to 2003.
Survivors are her Husband Grant; a Daughter, Erica Petty; Grandson, Gage Petty; four Sisters, Pamela Wilson, Sheri Carter, Karen Hoefling and Susan Paolella; a Brother, Stuart Southerland; two Nephews, Sam Southerland and Craig Carter, and a Niece, Sarah (Southerland Wilcher. She was preceded in death by her Parents. A graveside service will be conducted at 10: 00 AM Monday, October 15, 2018 at Sugarland Memory Gardens in Washington, Indiana.
