Patoka woman charged in fatal accident investigation

        A woman has been arrested and charged in connection with a double fatal crash that happened September 1st in Gibson County.

        At 7:30-pm local time that night, 19-year-old Trevor Watts of Princeton was driving on Old us 41 and slowed down to turn onto Gibson County Road 225.  Meanwhile, 25-year-old Ashley Sanders of Patoka was driving behind Watts and authorities said she was speeding and didn’t realize Watts was slowing and hit his vehicle in the rear. Watts and his passenger, 20-year-old James Gasaway of Haubstadt were killed.  Sanders was flown from the scene.

        Indiana State Police report that Sanders was arrested at her home this morning without incident and charged with two Level 4 Felony counts of Operating While Intoxicated Resulting in Death.  The investigation determined she was driving at  least 98 miles an hour and she had a blood alcohol content of .27% at the time of the crash.   She had marijuana and meth in her system according to police. 

        Sanders was jailed at 6:30 this morning in Gibson County and being held without bond.
