The US Department of Agriculture is partnering with Petersburg to improve the town’s water and wastewater infrastructure.

Petersburg’s current water treatment plant has outlived its usefulness and is in poor condition according to a news release.  They are looking to build a new treatment plant and add one additional water well to meet the town’s water demands and state regulatory requirements.

Petersburg is getting a $9.2 million dollar loan for the projects.   The improvement will benefit other areas as well as Petersburg sells its water to Otwell and Pike Gibson Water corporations.
