Harold Eugene “Gene” Lee passed away Monday, Sept. 10, 2018, in Lacey, Washington, with his family by his side.

He was born to Harold and Juanita (Tooley) Lee in Plainville, Indiana, on May 2, 1943, but spent his growing up years in Washington, Indiana.
Gene married the love of his life, Christi Detter, on Oct. 16, 1964, in Germany, where he was stationed many years while serving in the Army. He was a Vietnam veteran and retired from the Army as a PSG (E7), which he was very proud of. After retirement he worked at Pierce Transit in Tacoma, Washington, as a transit operator.

Gene loved motorcycling, RVing and feeding the wildlife in the backyard. He took in many homeless dogs and made them his own, taking very good care of them.
Surviving Gene are his wife and two daughter, Sheila (Dan) Johnston of Tenino, Washington, and Tina Lee (fiance Bryan) of Tacoma; and sisters Gail Leonard of Austin, Indiana, and Monica (Bill) Messer of Wheatland, Indiana.

Preceding him in death are his parents and three brothers, Eddie and Jerry Lee and Lester “Sam” Zigler.

At his request he will be cremated and there will be no services.
