Courthouse Annex contractor falling behind…

The discussion concerning construction of the new Daviess County Government Center at the Daviess County Commissioners meeting became contentious Tuesday as project manager Michael Schapker presented documents showing that the general contractor, Jasper Lumber, was falling farther behind.

Schapker told the Commissioners that Jasper Lumber had, so far, used 42% of the contracted days but had only billed for 16% of the work.  Schapker also said Jasper Lumber had not presented an adequate schedule showing how they planned to complete the building within the allotted 365 contract days.   No penalty clause was included in Jasper Lumber’s contract.

After several minutes of pointed questioning concerning the project, the Commissioners instructed project architect, Jonathan LaMar, to instruct Jasper Lumber to provide an adequate schedule showing how they plan to meet the April deadline.
