Authorities say they rescued a man in after flood waters swept his car off a rural road.

They say Indiana conservation officers and two fire departments plucked 44-year-old Eric D. Blevens of Dugger from the top of his Chevrolet Cavalier after he tried to drive down a Greene County road covered by water Saturday night after heavy rains had soaked the area.

Conservation Officer Max Winchell says the water was waist deep and moving swiftly at the time of the rescue.

Winchell says Blevens was treated and released at the scene near Linton.
