Commissioners receive project updates

Daviess County Highway Superintendent Phil Cornelius is not a happy camper.  Cornelius told the Daviess County Commissioners Tuesday that Milestone, the paving company on the Odon-Cannelburg Road project had pulled its workers off the job and will not return until September 24.   Cornelius reported that this still puts the company in the contract deadlines, but barricades were re-installed on the south side of Odon where there is a rough transition from the town’s streets to the new roadbed.

On the other hand, Cornelius had good  news on the Washington 15th Street Bridge project.  The Highway Superintendent reported that, while Dec. 7,  is still the completion date, it appears work on the bridge and 15th Street is running ahead of schedule.

During the report on the Annex construction, Architect Jonathan LaMar reported on the progress of the, now officially named, Daviess County Government Center.  LaMar reported the general contractor reports that construction is on schedule with steel going up and floor slabs being poured.  Bid packages for furniture in the new building will be available next week.
