Washington looking at grade level schools

The Washington Community School System is considering going to a grade level system for every school except Veale.

The Washington Times Herald (www.washtimesherald.com)  says a study recommends using Griffith for K-2, North Elementary for 3rd and 4th grade and Lena Dunn for grades 5 and 6 and a pre-school.

The newspaper quoted Superintendent Dr. Dan Roach as saying the change would cut down classroom crowding and eliminate the temporary classrooms in use at Veale and North.

No decisions have been made as school officials will be studying transportation changes that would be needed for going to grade level schools.
