Barbara Lois Carey, 87, passed away 8:25 pm on July 17, 2018 at Eastgate Manor Nursing Home. Barbara was born on May 31, 1931 in Daviess County the daughter of Lewis and Nancy O. (Boyd) Fitzgerald. She married Clarence Shelton Carey on June 18, 1952 and he preceded her in death on July 22, 2003.
Barbara was a 1949 graduate of Washington High School, a member of Antioch Christian Church, and had been a cook at Washington High School. She loved her grandchildren, teaching Sunday school, sewing, cooking, and baking. Barbara also enjoyed planting flowers and always had flower gardens.
Survivors include her daughters, Susan Moulden and her husband Jim of Washington, Sherry Davis of Monroe City, Judy Riddle and her husband Lewis of Shirley, IN; grandchildren, Jerome Carey, Jesse Riddle, Levi Riddle, Geena Davis; step grandchildren Scott Riddle, Alison Erwin; and sister Evelyn Joan Walker of Beaufort, SC. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bro. Clarence Carey, sisters, Lillian Gray, Imogene Mandaback, brothers, Hamlet, Norman, and Donald Fitzgerald, and son-in-law Don Davis.
Friends may visit with Barbara’s family from Noon until 2:00 pm on Friday, July 20, 2018 at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 2020 State St. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 2:00 pm at the funeral home with Bro. Keith Meece officiating. Interment will follow in Antioch cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Camp Illiana, 7851 E. 450 S., Washington, IN 47501.
