The Barr Reeve School Board has taken some more steps forward in a planned construction project.

The board approved resolutions which will add $6 million for the addition of several classrooms and a new gym.   That will be added to the $6 million in Qualified Zone Academy Bonds sold earlier this year by the corporation to be used for a previous plan. That money is to used for kitchen, cafeteria, roofing, HVAC and other improvements as well as turning the old gym into classrooms and remodeling high school locker rooms.

The Washington Times Herald reports today that school officials had not originally intended to do two project at once but the current financial situation allows them to do so without affect the tax rate too much.

The corporation has been discussing the project for several years and hosted a series of public meetings where the public had the chance to look at and comment on the project.

The resolutions that have passed the school board will now set in motion a timetable allowing the public to remonstrate if desired.
