Combined dispatch being discussed again

The Daviess County Council heard a report from County Commissioner Tom McCracken on the feasibility of combining the 9-1-1 Emergency Dispatch Centers.

All 9-1-1 calls from cell phones, automatically go to the County, and then then cell phone calls must be transferred to the City, where information must be repeated before emergency vehicles can be dispatched.  McCracken reviewed potential costs, and said the City of Washington was ready to contribute to the cost of a combined dispatch center.    But McCracken told the Council that there is a long way to go before any proposal can be finalized.

In regular business, the Council approved changes in the County’s employee longevity policy, but asked that in the future, a representative of the Council and Commissioners be added to the Longevity Pay Committee.   Council members also approved the appointment of Bruce Hatton to the Library Board.
