Former Washington, Indiana Native John Keith Snyder will be laid to rest Saturday.  He was a two time state treasurer and was the man deemed responsible for a visit 50 years ago from Richard Nixon, who held his first campaign speech in his run for President at the Hatchet House.

Snyder died this past weekend at the age of 97.

He was elected to two terms as Indiana Treasurer elected in 1966 and 1971.  During his tenure, he established policies that earned Indiana taxpayers $48 million, more than all previous state treasurers combined. For his outstanding public service, John was recognized three times with the Sagamore of the Wabash awards by three separate Indiana governors.  Those are just a few of the accomplishments of the man named Mr. Republican by the Indianapolis Star.

His funeral is Saturday in Greenfield, Indiana.
