(photo from 44 News)    A mandatory evacuation of residents within a mile radius of a train derailment an explosion was ordered last night in Gibson County.

The train, loaded with propane, derailed after 7-pm and and exploded at Old 41 and Caniff Trailer Court.  Displaced residents were invited to stay at the Gibson County Fairgrounds.

There’s believed to have been no injuries, the Gibson County Sheriff’s office told WAMW there was nothing new to report since about 10 last night. They did say the evacuation was still in place and residents were still not permitted to go home yet.

Authorities and CSX rail officials continue to work the scene and investigate the derailment.
