Around a dozen nonprofit organizations asked the Daviess County Commissions for a quarter million dollars in county money while pointing out the services they provide.

The Daviess County Historical Society was requesting the most. They asked for $80,000 to pay down debt for an elevator and the building it bought to house the museum.  The Washington Times Herald quoted Society President Dough Dougherty saying they know it’s a lot of money but the society is doing what the county asked.  He was referring to requested changes the county has the society to make in recent times.

In all nine representatives from various organizations showed up in person at Tuesday’s Commissioners Meeting requesting funding for various reasons.

The commissioners took all they requests under advisement and will consider and vote on them during budget time.
