Storms knock out power

Nearly 60,000 electric customers were without power at one time yesterday and last evening due to storms packing high winds rolled through.

        Duke Energy, Win-Energy REMC and Daviess/Martin REMC all reported outages in their service areas in southwest Indiana and locally.  All worked through the night and into today to get power restored.

Evansville police told WFIE-TV that a semi was blown over on U.S. 41 in the city, causing two minor injuries.

In the listening area, trees, and limbs were reported down al across the area causing some travel hazards and difficulties at times.

It’s believed the weather yesterday caused a tree to go down on West Van Trees and land on top of a double wide trailer. There were no injuries in the incident reported around 3-pm.

There was a tree reported down on Vance Street blocking an alley. That was reported at 5-pm.
