Highway flagger hit by a car and critically injured

        A highway flagger was struck by a vehicle while on the job in Putnam County.

        Sister Station WAMB in Brazil is reporting that last night at 7,  a driver did not stop for the flagger who was directing southbound traffic for pavement resurfacing on US 231 south of Greencastle.

        The flagger, 53-year-old Danny K. Harrington, of Terre Haute, IN. was critically injured and airlifted to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis for treatment. Harrington works for Wabash Valley Asphalt.

        The driver of the vehicle who didn’t stop was identified as 52-year-old Jessie D. Parks of Cloverdale.  She was treated and released from Putnam County Hospital.  She was southbound and did not stop for the flagger and hit two other vehicles and eventually the flagger.

          Police say Parks tested positive for marijuana and had a BAC of .10%.

                The drivers of the two vehicles that were hit were uninjured.
