Several injured in US 50 crash Wednesday

Details have been released in Wednesday’s accident that closed US 50 for a time between Loogootee and Shoals, west of the Martin County Fairgrounds.

A 2010 Chevy van operated by Amanil Kahsay of Indianapolis was westbound around 4:30-pm and went off the roadway hitting the guardrail.  He overcorrected and got back onto the eastbound lane.  When he drove back on the road, his vehicle hit a Toyota Tacoma in the driver’s side.  It was driven by 51-year-old Scott Truelove of Shoals. The van then continued on and struck a truck head on. That 2002 Dodge Ram was driven by 38-year-old John Graber of Loogootee.

All three drivers, along with Graber, his wife and two children in the truck were taken to DCH.   His wife was later flown to St. Vincent’s in Evansville. Graber and his two kids were treated for cuts and bruises.  Kahsay had to be flown to St. Vincent’s as well.  He was trapped his van for a time before being extricated.
