State and District Races

 — Republican voters in Indiana are picking a Senate nominee in a race that has been dominated by personal attacks and animosity. Two sitting congressmen – Todd Rokita and Luke Messer – and former state lawmaker Mike Braun are on the ballot Tuesday. They’re competing for a chance to unseat Democratic Sen. Joe Donnelly. With little daylight on key conservative issues to separate the candidates, stylistic preferences seem likely to decide the race.

 — The brother of Vice President Mike Pence is hoping his famous name and backing from other top Republicans will lift him to victory in an Indiana congressional primary against an entrepreneur who mostly self-funded his campaign. Columbus businessman Greg Pence has never held a public office. Still, he’s considered the front-runner in the race because of younger brother Mike Pence, who represented the 6th District for a dozen years before becoming Indiana governor.

—Three Republicans and three democrats are vying to be on the November ballot for Congress in District 8.   Four term incumbent Larry Bucshon is challenged by Dr. Richard Moss of Jasper, and Rachel Covington.   For the Democrats, Ron Drake, William Tanoos and John James are the candidates.
