A Petersburg teen won five gold medals in swimming  at the Endeavor Games held in Fort Wayne, IN this past Saturday.

The Endeavor Games began in 2000 at Central Oklahoma University.  It’s goal is to provide children, adults and military service members with physical disabilities an opportunity to display their talents in a proper and competitive setting against individuals with similar disabilities.  It has become the largest multi-sport, multi-disability competition in the nation.

14 year old Isaac Theising competed in five races including the 25 yard freestyle, 100 yard freestyle, 25 yard butterfly, 50 yard butterfly and 25 yard breast stroke.  He earned first place in his class of kids 16 and under in each event.

Isaac learned about the Endeavor games through a series of conversations with his coaches.  Isaac has been a member of the Pike Central Middle School Swim Team since 6th Grade. The team is coached by Mike and Beth Bohnert.  Isaac was looking for a summer swim club to join when Mrs. Bohnert told him about Mike Chapman in Boonville who coaches the Boonville Aquatic Dolphin Swim Club.  It is a mainstream swim team that will compete in several meets this summer in Indiana and Kentucky. Chapman learned of the Endeavor games and Isaac had only a couple of weeks to prepare for the competition. He traveled to Fort Wayne with an entourage of family and friends cheering him on.

Isaac’s next meet will be with the Boonville Aquatic Dolphins on May 5th at Castle High School.
