Students at Washington High School will join some of the elite school in the state with expanded course and career preparation opportunities.   Thursday, the Washington School Board voted to add computer science to Washington’s Project Lead the Way courses.  Students at Washington High School can already explore Engineering and Bio-Medical courses through the schools Project Lead The Way classes.   WHS Principal Steve Peterson said only a few schools in Indiana offer all three disciplines.

Peterson said the Project Lead The Way hands-in courses have been successful in preparing students for their futures.

Washington joins Columbus East, Silver Creek, Madison, and Perry Central as the only schools south of suburban Indianapolis to offer students these educational opportunities.

In other business, the Board accepted the retirement letter from veteran teacher Bill Turner and approved filling several non-certified and ECA positions.

The Board also recognized Veale 4th grader, Trinity Dyer, for winning the Future Chef competition.  Trinity served Board Members and the audience a sample of her award winning pineapple pork and fried rice dish.
