Vera Mae Faught

Vera Mae Faught, 86, of Vincennes, IN, passed away at the home of her daughter, in Washington, IN, on February 24, 2018.

Vera had worked as a bookkeeper in the Knox County Auditor’s Office, and had also worked as a secretary at Washington Elementary School. A teacher at heart, she had taught Sunday School at the Wheatland Christian Church for over 50 years, and was a longtime member of the church. Known as grandma, she had been part of many children’s lives . A proud graduate of Fritchton High School, Vera was also a member of the Travelers Protective Association.

Born January 24, 1932, in Knox County, Indiana, she was the daughter of Samuel E. and Frances Anna (Williams) Hatton. Her parents and her husband of 47 years, Merlin G. Faught, who passed away June 15, 2000, preceded her.

Surviving is her daughter, Marcia McClure and her husband, Michael, of Washington, IN; her sisters, Rachel Hughes of Carlisle, IN and Wanda Carota and her husband, Mike, of Huntingburg, IN; her brother, Herman Hatton and his wife, Sondra, of Fritchton, IN; her grandchildren, Mary Anna Arney and her husband, Stefen, and Matthew McClure; her great-granddaughter, Ariah Ray Arney; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit with Vera’s family from 4:00 – 9:00 on Friday, at Goodwin Funeral Home. The funeral will be Saturday, at 10:30, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
