Norman Gerkin, 81, of Montgomery passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 3:27 P.M at Memorial Hospital in Jasper, Indiana surrounded by his family.

He was born January 21, 1937 in Mitchell, Indiana to the late Lawrence and Thelma (Clouse) Gerkin.

Norman married Judy (Shirley) Gerkin on May 25, 1956.  He joined B&O Railroad as a train dispatcher in 1955 until 1995. Norman was a farmer and was know as a “jack of all trades”, he could fix anything. He was a member of White River Baptist Church in Buddah.

Norman was preceded in death by his parents; Lawrence and Thelma, his brothers; Bill, Bernard, Jon, and Ronnie Gerkin.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Judy Gerkin, his children; Lynn (Jerry) Stoll of Montgomery, Dale (Shirley) Gerkin of Loogootee, Bobby (Tammatha) Gerkin of Bedford, Indiana, his grandchildren; Jeremy (Anita) Stoll, Amanda (Jodey) Neukam, Emily (Adam) Cornelius, Virginia Gerkin, Lynnette (Adam) Sell, Brandy (Rick) Gerkin – Combs, and Jesse Gerkin, 10 great – grandchildren, his sister – in – laws, Wanda, Betty, Doris, and Faye Gerkin, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at 11:00 A.M at Providence Mennonite Church with Reverend Tim Baxter officiating. Burial will follow at Bethany Cemetery in Montgomery.

 Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 20, from 2:00 P.M until 8:00 P.M at Providence Mennonite Church, and again on Wednesday, February 21, from 9:00  A.M until time of service.

The family has asked that fragrances, colognes, and flowers be kept to at a minimum due to serious families allergies, or donate to your charities.
