Washington Schools Look at E-Learning

e-learning

Snow make-up days could be replaced by e-Learning days in the Washington Community Schools.  Asst. Superintendent Kevin Frank told Washington School Board members that the learning days in January and February are especially valuable as teachers prepare students for the high stakes ISTEP exams.   Frank told Board members that over 2100 Chromebooks and 500 I-pads available to students, and with teachers using 250 Google classrooms, Washington is ready to consider using e-Learning days.    With e-Learning days, students could receive and turn in assignments and even engage in discussions with teachers by computer.  After the meeting,

Washington Superintendent Dr. Dan Roach says they’ve discussed e learning for some time and are making sure they meet state requirements.  He says it won’t happen this year.

One of the major considerations being considered is how to accommodate students without internet access at home.

In personnel business at last night’s regular meeting… the Board accepted a resignation from Corporation IT Director Chad Smith and voted to hire Zachary Lacy to replace him. Also the board accepted the resignation of elementary teacher Kelly Brashear.
