Appraisers hired by the town of Odon have completed their valuation of a piece of property the town may be interested in purchasing. The Odon Journal reports that McActee Appraisal service of Loogootee valued the Odon garage real estate at $38,000 while Jeffrey Palmer Appraisal Service put the price at $46,000.  State law prohibits a municipality from paying more that the average of two appraisals which would be $42,000.  Board members Chuck Krieg and Vernon Graber discussed the appraisals at a recent meeting and Krieg suggested a possible offer of $40,000 for the property which is located close to the town hall.  Supervisor Josh Chesney told the board the building needed some lighting work but agreed the property would be a good buy for the city.  No final action on the proposal was taken at the meeting.

Also in the northern part of the county, the Odon Journal reports the Elnora town board has been informed by a representative of Midwest Engineers that the extension of water and wastewater utilities to a section of I-69 near North Daviess School, would carry a price tag of 1.6 million dollars.  Broken down the costs would be $625,000 to extend a ten inch water main to the site, and $603,000 to build a 6 inch line from the town’s wastewater treatment plant.  Each of the lines would extend approximately 10,820 feet.  Non-construction cost would likely add another $450,000 to the total project cost according to Derek Wiggins with Midwest Engineers.  No final action was taken on the proposal at the meeting.
