Two juveniles have been charged with Arson in connection with a Thursday house fire at 612 Southwest 5th in Washington.

Washington Police report they responded to the call of a fire and arrived to find the house totally engulfed.  Witnesses said they saw two juveniles leaving the area before the fire was reported.

A short time later, police found the suspects on Southwest 3rd in an alley. After an investigation, they were detained and then charged with Arson and Criminal Trespassing and taken to the Southwest Regional Youth Village in Knox County pending a court hearing.  The home was vacant and there were no injuries.

The fire call went out at 5:02-pm and Fire Chief Dave Rhoads says 8 off duty firefighters were called in to help.  The home is owned by Eric Harrington and was being sold on contract to Sharon Decker.  It had been vacant for about 2 years.  Rhoads says there was fire damage to the rear of half of the house.  Again, there were no injuries.
