Over this last weekend, a total of 6 people were jailed in Martin County in two separate drug investigations.

-The Martin County Sheriff’s Department is reporting that during a narcotics investigation on the west side of Loogootee Sunday night, Deputy Tyler Reed saw a vehicle leave a suspect’s home.  After committing a couple of moving violations, another deputy, Cody Shinn made a  traffic stop. The smell of alcohol was detected and the vehicle’s driver, Rejan K. Allen, 42 of Loogootee appeared to be intoxicated.  She was given a field sobriety test and failed.  She was then taken to DCH for another test which resulted in a .096 BAC reading.  She also was found to have some illegal drug chemicals in her system.  She was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated.      During the traffic stop, Deputy Reed’s k9 conducted a free air sniff and alerted to the presence of drugs. A vehicle search then turned up marijuana and meth in the car.  A search warrant was then obtained and issued for the home where more drugs and illegal materials were found.  53-year-old Rodger Gist of Loogootee and 58-year-old Michael Gist of Washington were arrested and they along with Allen face numerous possession and dealing charges involving meth, marijuana, a controlled substance and legend drugs.

-On Saturday, Martin County Sheriff Travis Rousch and Deputy Joshua Greene conducted a controlled drug buy in a rural area east of Loogootee.  That led them to a hotel in Loogootee where a consent to search was given.  37-year-old Rocky McClure of Loogootee was arrested there for dealing, possession and neglect of a dependent.  That arrest and search led them to another narcotics operation in Shoals.   Surveillance was set up at a gas station and officers watched a drug buy take place and 36-year-old Cary Clifton was arrested on dealing, possession and nuisance charges.   Then on Sunday morning another interdiction took place east of Loogootee where 34-year-old Juan Avalos was arrested for dealing, possession, and possessing a firearm without a permit.
