There’s a health emergency in Knox County due to two diagnosed cases of Tuberculosis.
The Knox County Commissioners declared the emergency in order for the Health Department to be able allow health department workers to bank more overtime and comp time hours due to the extended hours they are working to combat the disease. The declaration also allows the health department to get the equipment needed to fight the disease and hire any personnel needed through the health department board.
