It cost 50,000 to clear Daviess County roads during the last bout of snow and ice.  That was the report from Daviess County Highway Superintendent Phil Cornelius.    He told the County Commissioners Tuesday that county employees worked 398 hours of paid overtime, while other employees chose to take 278 hours in comp time.   There was some discussion about how the large amount of comp time hours could affect the Highway Department during its busy season this summer.   Commissioner Tom McCracken said he was against the use of comp time altogether, while the other two Commissioners were undecided how to deal with the issue.

In another matter, the Commissioners took  steps in preparing for the construction of the Courthouse Annex.  They approved  revised County Capital Improvement Plans and signed papers in preparation for issuing Local Income Tax Revenue Bonds for the Annex.  The Commissioners agreed to have the current I.T., Extension, and Health Department buildings inspected for asbestos in preparation for their demolition as part of the Annex Project.

Also on Tuesday, the Commissioners approved an increase in fees for the County Health Department and approved the application for an Adult Community Based Supervision Grant from Community Corrections.   The Health Department said the fee increase matched the increase in vaccine prices.
