Jane Pifer

Jane Pifer, 92, of Loogootee, passed away at 1:48 p.m. Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Ketcham Memorial Center.

She was born March 20, 1925 in Shickshinny, Pennsylvania to the late Carl and Bertha (Grover) Koons.

Jane was a member of the Antioch Christian Church. She was a previously employed as a Certified Surgical Tech in Frankfort, Indiana. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards and reading the Bible. She cherished time with her grandchildren and her “adopted” children and grandchildren who she took under her wing.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arley Pifer, who passed away in 2002; her parents; sister, Bernice Cicerchia and a brother who passed in infancy.

Jane is survived by her children, Derlin (Debbie) Pifer of Corvallis, OR, Craig (Carole) Pifer of Whitestown and Paula Pifer of Loogootee; grandchildren, Kyle (Sydney) Pifer, Natalie Pifer, Zachary Pifer and Lauren Pifer; great-grandchildren, Reese, Delaney and Ellis Pifer; siblings, Leonard (Margaret) Koons, Wayne Koons and Charlotte (Gordon) Maish; many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at the Loogootee United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Goodwill Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 23, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or your local food pantry.
