The Daviess County Council approved the financing plan for the Court House Annex project at Wednesday’s initial meeting of 2018.

After discussing several options, the Council approved a motion from Councilman Dave Smith to use $5 million of the County’s cash reserves and bond the remaining $4 million.  The motion also included a suggestion from Councilman Mike Sprinkle to use $4 million from the County General Fund balance, and $500,000 from each of the EDIT and Riverboat Funds to pay the up-front money.   The funding option adopted by the Council will save the County approximately $300,000 over the life of the bonds versus the other scenario under consideration.  Bids on the projected $8.2 million Annex project are to be received and opened January 29th.

In other business, the Council selected Mike Myers as president and Pat Dant as vice-president for 2018.  The Council also approved amended salary ordinances for the Auditor, Probation, and Soil and Water offices.  An amended salary ordinance was also approved for the West Boggs Park Department.
