Indiana Guard officials said 43-year-old Sgt. 1st Class Mark Boner of Fort Wayne died early Saturday at Fort Hood, Texas.   The cause of death remains under investigation.

Boner was a member of the Kokomo-based 38th Sustainment Brigade and was an automated logistical specialist.  He had also served in a 2009 deployment to Iraq.  About 250 members of the unit left last week for training at Fort Hood ahead of a deployment to Kuwait.

Indiana Governor Eric J. Holcomb issued a special statement expressing expressing his sorrow and recognizing Sgt. Boner’s “dedication to duty, love for family, and selfless service to his country”.
