Peggy Joan (Edwards) Barber, 80, of Washington, IN, passed away in her home on December 31st. She was born on July 21, 1937 to Raymond and Margaret (McGhee) Edwards, in Washington, IN. She graduated from Washington High School in 1955, and married Maurice (Morris) Barber on October 19, 1956.

Peggy jumped into farm life with Morris, with only the two of them building the farm’s first grain bin. For another 60 years, Peggy continued to be integral to the operations of Barber farms. Morris and Peggy raised three children together Kim Anita, Karen Marie, and Kelly Maurice, whom they loved dearly. Peggy loved cooking, and was known for her ability to whip up a good meal for however many people Morris brought in the back door that evening. It was this kind of unwavering devotion to serving her family and the farm, that Morris’s favorite phrase, “Hey Peggy”, was born.

In Peggy’s later years, she could be found “beating the crowd” on her early morning trips to Wal-Mart, taking road trips with her friends Betty, Linda, and Shirley, or sitting at the kitchen table taking care of farm business.

Peggy is survived by her daughter Karen (Mark) Radcliffe of Port Charlotte, Florida, her son Kelly Barber of Washington, Indiana, grandchildren TJ (Heather) Wirts, Devin (Jake) Crouch, Drew Wirts, Cassidy Radcliffe, Casey (Jason) Smith, Mikala (Adam) May, Kaden Barber, and six great-grandchildren.
